Get to Know Ben
Ben is an ACE Certified personal trainer and a graduate of Georgetown University, with a passion for helping people get the most out of their lives. His comprehensive approach to movement—his holistic emphasis on fitness, mobility, and well-being—has helped hundreds of clients reclaim their flexibility and lead fuller, richer lives. From competitive athletes who want to squeeze out every ounce of performance, to grandparents who want to keep up with their grandkids on the ski slopes and hiking trails, Ben’s background, deep interest in his clients, and years of study and experience, have been shown time and time again to just, plain, work
Ben spent his teenage and early adult years as an active athlete engaged in a wide variety of sports including basketball, ice hockey, snowboarding, running, weightlifting, and even combatives like boxing and jiu jitsu.
Though his fitness journey began in earnest in 2014, he credits a severe illness a few years later as being the catalyst that unlocked his holistic philosophy. After coming down with strange flu-like symptoms abroad, on the plane ride home, he went to hoist someone else’s luggage into the overhead compartment, and felt a strange sensation in his back. Though Ben was only in his mid twenties, and though he was routinely lifting hundreds of pounds at the time, he ended up hospitalized, barely able to walk, tormented by back pain and nausea.
The doctors went from claiming he had surely slipped a disc, to throwing up their hands in confusion, unable to find a cause. After several MRIs, thousands of dollars in medical bills, and no answers, Ben was discharged. Bedridden for days, and thereafter limping for weeks, Ben found himself starting over from first principles.
Over a period of months, Ben rebuilt his body using a combination of mobility basics and functional range conditioning protocols. And it was not a moment too soon, for later that year, as his band started gaining traction, Ben found himself on the road 45 weekends a year, touring the United States in a cramped mini-van, awkwardly contorted in between instruments and sound equipment. It was as if life was testing his new approach: could Ben maintain his fitness—his flexibility, exercise, and health—despite the unpredictable rigors of his music career?
Fortunately, the answer was yes. And even today, years later, Ben moves faster and better than in his teens and early twenties, and he has been able to return to his favorite activities like basketball, calisthenics, soccer, trail-running, snowboarding, exploring nature with his fiancé, and playing with his dog, Zora.
Ben’s approach to fitness is unique, but his results aren’t. He has a great track record, and his clients credit him with:
"[helping me] become more fit, more connected to [my] body, and more confident"
helping them to regain mobility and increase range of motion and strength
helping them to heal broken bones, while keeping sessions interesting and upbeat
Whether you’re looking to heal an injury, learn a new technique, or optimize your movement and wellness, Ben would love to hear from you, share his passion for fitness, and empower you on your own fitness journey so you can get the most out of your life.
