FAQs

Where are you based? Do you offer in-person or online training?

I’m currently based in Denver, Colorado. I offer in-person training at my private studio, and I have clients all over the world who I train via FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, and Facebook Messenger. If you are located within the Denver metro area and have a gym you prefer to use, we can discuss that also.

What if I want to train multiple times a week?

If you want to train multiple times a week, I suggest the Enthusiast- or Elite-Level package. For most clients, I find two or three sessions per week, as part of a comprehensive program that we design together, and that includes two or three days of un-coached, individual effort, yields the best results.

What equipment will I need?

Your equipment needs will depend on your goals, course selection, and current fitness level. If you are training at my private studio, I have all the equipment you will need. If you are training at home, or on the road, we’ll cover and discuss the recommended tools as part of your free initial consultation. I have extensive experience setting up “home” and “travel” gyms at every budget level, and we will also work together to ensure your video equipment is optimized.

How do you ensure the same caliber of coaching online versus in-person?

I have been coaching clients online for years with great success. The cues I use to coach my clients in person and online transfer seamlessly.

My online clients tell me they enjoy the benefits of the online arrangement:

  • They save time commuting to and from the gym

  • They never have to deal with inclement weather

  • They improve their results, accountability, and consistency, by eliminating excuses and obstacles to training

  • They never have to wait while other people use their equipment, or miss out on exercises due to occupied machines

  • They have the option to record our sessions, which can be really useful for analyzing form and documenting progress over time

  • The flexibility that online training provides

Where I do find limitations in the online format are for individuals pursuing the upper echelons of weight and Olympic lifting on a budget. In these cases, without a buddy, or the finances to invest in certain tools to facilitate your training and development, it can be difficult to really push yourself at the elite level. If this describes your situation, I will start by helping you recruit a training partner (a win-win given the discounted group rate!), and if we can’t find someone, I will recommend an alternative, local, coach to ensure you get the advanced coaching you’re seeking.

How long are sessions?

Sessions run 55 minutes long for all first-time clients. After you have built a fitness foundation and demonstrated competence at self-guided warm-up and cool-down, you can have the option to choose 30 minute sessions for a 35% reduction in session cost.

Will you get me in shape for…

  • My wedding? Yes.

  • The summer? Yes.

  • My grandkids? Yes.

  • My D1 college sport? Yes.

  • My post-breakup makeover? Absolutely.

Real talk: my clients have an excellent track record of results, and I would be the first to credit them for it. I have a high degree of faith in my approach, and the work we do together, but it’s your dedication, effort, and teachability that will determine our results. That’s why the free initial consultation is so important for ensuring we have good alignment as a team.

What sets you apart as a coach?

The #1 differentiator is how comprehensive and individualized my approach is for every client, and the care and attention I apply when making sure our time together supports your goals and lifestyle.

From a fitness perspective, I am a movement, mobility, and strength coach. This means I teach fundamental, intermediate, and advanced principles of fitness, strength, and conditioning. I also discuss my own nutrition, wellness, and health journey—lessons I’ve learned along the way—and how I incorporate tier one fitness, coaching, and athletic performance into a well-rounded and fun life that nevertheless includes obstacles like frequent travel and late nights as a professional musician. The point is, I have a holistic, real-world, and highly personalized approach that focuses as much on the mental / emotional aspects of fitness as it does on the mechanics of proper technique. This is what gives me such a great track record, it’s what sets me apart as a coach, and it’s what empowers my clients to pursue such excellent results.
